Ingredients
  

Main Ingredients
  • 1 pound store-bought gnocchi Using store-bought gnocchi for convenience.
  • 2 medium onions, thinly sliced
  • 2 tablespoons olive oil
  • 2 tablespoons unsalted butter
  • 1 cup shredded Gruyère cheese The star of the show.
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • Fresh parsley for garnish Optional, for a pop of color.

Method
 

Caramelizing Onions
  1. Heat olive oil and butter in a large pan over medium heat. Add thinly sliced onions and sprinkle with a pinch of salt.
  2. Cook for about 20 minutes, stirring occasionally, until onions are golden and sweet.
Cooking Gnocchi
  1. In a separate pot, boil salted water. Once boiling, add gnocchi and cook until they float to the top.
  2. Drain gnocchi gently and set aside.
Combining Ingredients
  1. In the pan with caramelized onions, add the cooked gnocchi and toss everything together gently.
  2. Season with salt and pepper, then sprinkle shredded Gruyère cheese on top and let it melt.
Serving
  1. Plate the dish and garnish with fresh parsley if desired.

Notes

Taste as you go and adjust seasonings. Feel free to modify with spinach or mushrooms for added flavor. If Gruyère isn't available, mozzarella or cheddar can be used as alternatives.
