  • 1 box chocolate cake mix Use your favorite brand.
  • 1 cup water
  • 1/2 cup vegetable oil
  • 3 large eggs
  • 1 cup sour cream Can substitute with Greek yogurt.
  • 1 cup chocolate chips Optional but recommended.
  • to taste frosting of your choice For decoration.

Method
 

Preparation
  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
  2. In a large mixing bowl, combine chocolate cake mix, water, vegetable oil, and eggs until smooth.
  3. Stir in sour cream and fold in chocolate chips if desired.
  4. Divide the batter evenly between two greased 9-inch round cake pans.
Baking
  1. Bake in the preheated oven for 30-35 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted in the center comes out clean.
  2. Allow the cakes to cool in the pans for about 10 minutes, then turn them out onto a wire rack to cool completely.
Frosting and Serving
  1. Once cooled, layer your cakes and frost with your favorite frosting.
  2. Add extra chocolate chips on top for decoration if desired.

Notes

Consider adding a teaspoon of vanilla extract or a splash of coffee for an enhanced flavor. For a layered presentation, add frosting between the layers.
