Preparation
- Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
- In a large mixing bowl, combine chocolate cake mix, water, vegetable oil, and eggs until smooth.
- Stir in sour cream and fold in chocolate chips if desired.
- Divide the batter evenly between two greased 9-inch round cake pans.
Baking
- Bake in the preheated oven for 30-35 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted in the center comes out clean.
- Allow the cakes to cool in the pans for about 10 minutes, then turn them out onto a wire rack to cool completely.
Frosting and Serving
- Once cooled, layer your cakes and frost with your favorite frosting.
- Add extra chocolate chips on top for decoration if desired.
Notes
Consider adding a teaspoon of vanilla extract or a splash of coffee for an enhanced flavor. For a layered presentation, add frosting between the layers.
