  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 2 cups granulated sugar
  • 3/4 cup unsweetened cocoa powder
  • 1 1/2 teaspoons baking powder
  • 1 1/2 teaspoons baking soda
  • 1 teaspoon salt
Wet Ingredients
  • 2 large eggs
  • 1 cup whole milk
  • 1/2 cup vegetable oil
  • 2 teaspoons vanilla extract
  • 1 cup boiling water

Method
 

Preparation
  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
  2. In a large bowl, sift together the flour, sugar, cocoa powder, baking powder, baking soda, and salt.
  3. Add the eggs, milk, vegetable oil, and vanilla extract to the dry ingredients. Mix until smooth.
  4. Stir in the boiling water to thin the batter.
Baking
  1. Pour the batter into a greased cake pan and bake for about 30-35 minutes.
  2. Check for doneness with a toothpick inserted in the center; it should come out clean.
Cooling
  1. Allow the cake to cool in the pan for about 10 minutes before transferring it to a wire rack to cool completely.

Notes

For frosting, consider a chocolate buttercream or cream cheese frosting. You can also add chocolate chips or nuts to the batter for extra texture. Store in the fridge for up to five days or freeze slices for up to three months.
