Ingredients

Filling
  • 2 medium apples (Granny Smith or Honeycrisp) Peeled and chopped
  • 1 cup caramel sauce Store-bought or homemade
  • 1 tablespoon sugar For that extra sparkle!
  • 1 teaspoon cinnamon
  • 1 pinch salt
Pastry
  • 1 package pre-made puff pastry Found in the freezer section
Optional Toppings
  • as desired whipped cream or vanilla ice cream For serving

Method

Preparation
  1. Preheat your oven to 400°F (200°C).
  2. Peel and chop the apples into small pieces.
  3. In a bowl, combine the chopped apples, sugar, cinnamon, and a pinch of salt. Toss until well coated.
  4. On a floured surface, roll out the puff pastry sheet to about 1/8 inch thick.
  5. Cut the pastry into squares, roughly 4x4 inches each.
  6. Place a tablespoon of the apple mixture in the center of each square and drizzle with caramel sauce.
  7. Fold the corners of the pastry squares over the filling and pinch to seal.
Baking
  1. Place the bombs on a parchment-lined baking sheet, seam-side down. Brush the tops with melted butter.
  2. Bake for about 20-25 minutes until golden brown.
Serving
  1. Allow the bombs to cool slightly. Drizzle with extra caramel sauce and serve warm with whipped cream or vanilla ice cream.

Notes

Don’t worry if the bombs aren’t perfectly shaped – it’s all about the flavor! Consider adding nuts or raisins to the apple mixture for added texture. Always keep extra caramel on hand!
