Ingredients
  

Base Ingredients
  • 1 cup rolled oats
  • 1 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1/2 cup brown sugar
  • 1/2 cup unsalted butter, melted adds rich, buttery flavor
Filling Ingredients
  • 1 cup chocolate chips feel free to use peanut butter chips or dried fruits as substitutes
  • 1 cup caramel sauce store-bought works well
  • 1/2 cup chopped nuts optional, can be omitted for nut allergies

Method
 

Preparation
  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
  2. In a large bowl, combine the rolled oats, flour, brown sugar, and a pinch of salt.
  3. Pour in your melted butter and mix until crumbly.
  4. Press half of the oat mixture into a lined or greased 9×9 inch baking dish.
  5. Evenly sprinkle the chocolate chips over the base layer.
  6. Drizzle the caramel sauce on top of the chocolate layer.
  7. Crumble the remaining oat mixture over the caramel layer and gently press down.
  8. Bake for about 25-30 minutes until the edges are golden and the center is gooey.
  9. Allow to cool completely before slicing.

Notes

These bars can be stored in an airtight container for up to a week. For an extra special treat, serve with a scoop of vanilla ice cream.
