For the Pie Crust
  • 1 piece pie crust (store-bought) Store-bought makes life easier.
For the Filling
  • 1 cup sugar
  • 1/3 cup unsweetened cocoa powder
  • 1/4 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 3 cups milk
  • 3 pieces egg yolks, beaten
  • 2 tablespoons butter
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract

Method
 

Preparation
  1. Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C).
  2. Place the store-bought pie crust into a 9-inch pie pan.
  3. In a large bowl, combine sugar, cocoa powder, flour, and salt. Whisk until mixed thoroughly.
  4. Gradually stir in the milk and beaten egg yolks.
Cooking
  1. Pour the mixture into a medium saucepan over medium heat. Stir frequently until thickened (about 10-15 minutes).
  2. Once thick, remove from heat and stir in the butter and vanilla extract until smooth.
  3. Pour the filling into the prepared pie crust.
  4. Bake in the preheated oven for about 30-35 minutes, until there is a slight jiggle in the center.
Finishing Touches
  1. Allow the pie to cool at room temperature for about an hour, then refrigerate.
  2. Slice, serve, and enjoy!

Notes

For a double chocolate delight, add chocolate shavings or whipped cream on top. Store leftovers covered in the fridge for up to 3 days.
