- In a large skillet, heat a splash of olive oil over medium heat. Toss in the sliced onions and bell peppers. Sauté until they're beautifully softened and just beginning to caramelize, around 5 to 7 minutes.
- Add the ground beef to your skillet. Break it apart with a spatula, cooking until it’s browned through, about 8 minutes, seasoning with salt and pepper.
- Stir in the minced garlic and Worcestershire sauce. Cook for an additional minute.
- Lay the provolone slices over the beef mixture, covering it completely. Cover the skillet for a couple of minutes until the cheese melts.
- Slice the hoagie rolls and toast them lightly if desired.
- Scoop the cheesy beef mixture into the rolls, making sure each is generously packed.
- Plate the cheesesteaks and serve, optionally with chips or a salad.
Notes
This recipe makes fantastic leftovers; store extras in the fridge for up to three days. You can reheat in the microwave or skillet.
