Ingredients
  

For the cheesecake layer
  • 16 oz cream cheese, softened
  • 1 cup powdered sugar
  • 1 cup heavy whipping cream
  • 1 cup semi-sweet chocolate chips, melted For added indulgence
For the cookie layer
  • 1 cup chocolate wafer cookies, crushed
  • 1/2 cup butter, melted
For the assembly
  • to taste Extra whipped cream for topping
  • to taste Chocolate shavings or more crushed cookies for garnish

Method
 

Preparation of Cheesecake Layer
  1. In a bowl, beat the softened cream cheese and powdered sugar together until smooth and creamy.
  2. In a separate bowl, whip the heavy cream until stiff peaks form.
  3. Gently fold the whipped cream into the cream cheese mixture, then fold in the melted chocolate until just combined.
Making the Cookie Crust
  1. In another bowl, mix together the crushed chocolate wafer cookies and melted butter until well combined.
Assembly
  1. In a large trifle dish or any large bowl, start layering with a layer of the cookie mixture.
  2. Add a layer of the chocolate cheesecake, followed by a layer of whipped cream.
  3. Repeat this process until all ingredients are used, finishing with a generous layer of whipped cream on top.
Garnishing
  1. Sprinkle some chocolate shavings or extra crushed cookies on top.
Chilling
  1. Let your trifle chill in the fridge for at least 2 hours before serving.

Notes

Use heavy whipping cream for best results for the whipped cream. This trifle tastes even better after a day in the fridge as flavors meld together. You can substitute chocolate wafer cookies with Oreos or any preferred cookies.
