Ingredients

For the Cake
  • 1 box chocolate cake mix
  • 1 cup creamy peanut butter
  • 3 large eggs
  • 1 cup water
  • 1 cup powdered sugar
  • 1/2 cup vegetable oil
For the Ooey Gooey Layer
  • 1 cup chocolate chips
  • 1/2 cup heavy cream
For the Topping
  • 1/2 cup chopped peanuts (optional) Use for extra crunch.
  • Whipped cream For serving.

Method

Preparation
  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease a 9x13-inch baking pan and set it aside.
  2. In a large mixing bowl, combine the chocolate cake mix, peanut butter, eggs, water, and vegetable oil. Mix until everything is well-combined and smooth.
Baking
  1. Pour this mixture into your prepared baking pan and bake for about 25-30 minutes or until a toothpick comes out clean (or with a few moist crumbs).
  2. While the cake is cooling, heat the heavy cream in a small saucepan just until it starts to simmer. Remove from heat and add chocolate chips, stirring until completely melted and smooth.
Assembly
  1. Once your cake is cool, pour the melted chocolate mixture over the top and spread it evenly with a spatula.
  2. Sprinkle chopped peanuts on top for an extra crunch if you desire.
Serving
  1. Serve the cake warm with a dollop of whipped cream.

Notes

If you have leftovers, store them in an airtight container for up to 3 days. You can substitute dark chocolate chips for a richer flavor or use crunchy peanut butter for added texture.
