- In a medium saucepan, heat the olive oil over medium heat.
- Toss in the minced garlic, and sauté until it’s fragrant—around 1 to 2 minutes.
- Pour in the crushed tomatoes and stir in the dried oregano, dried basil, sugar, and a pinch of salt and pepper.
- Bring the mixture to a gentle simmer and let it bubble away for 15-20 minutes.
- Before serving, give it a taste and adjust seasoning as needed.
- If not using right away, let it cool and store it in an airtight container in the fridge for up to a week.
- You can freeze it for later use.
Notes
Customize with red pepper flakes for a kick, or fresh basil for added flavor. If using garlic powder, use 1/2 teaspoon instead. Adjust the thickness with a splash of water or broth.
