Ingredients

Main Ingredients
  • 1 can 15 oz of crushed tomatoes
  • 4 cloves of garlic, minced Use fresh garlic for best flavor.
  • 2 tablespoons of olive oil
  • 1 teaspoon of dried oregano
  • 1 teaspoon of dried basil
  • 1/2 teaspoon of sugar To balance the acidity.
  • Salt and pepper, to taste

Method

Preparation
  1. In a medium saucepan, heat the olive oil over medium heat.
  2. Toss in the minced garlic, and sauté until it’s fragrant—around 1 to 2 minutes.
  3. Pour in the crushed tomatoes and stir in the dried oregano, dried basil, sugar, and a pinch of salt and pepper.
  4. Bring the mixture to a gentle simmer and let it bubble away for 15-20 minutes.
  5. Before serving, give it a taste and adjust seasoning as needed.
  6. If not using right away, let it cool and store it in an airtight container in the fridge for up to a week.
  7. You can freeze it for later use.

Notes

Customize with red pepper flakes for a kick, or fresh basil for added flavor. If using garlic powder, use 1/2 teaspoon instead. Adjust the thickness with a splash of water or broth.
