Preparation
- Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
- In a large mixing bowl, cream together the softened butter, granulated sugar, and brown sugar until it's light and fluffy.
- Beat in the eggs one at a time, followed by the vanilla extract.
- In another bowl, combine flour, cocoa powder, baking soda, and salt, whisking to ensure everything is well mixed.
- Gradually add the dry mixture to the wet mixture, mixing until just combined.
- Fold in the chocolate chips.
Baking
- Drop rounded tablespoons of dough onto ungreased cookie sheets.
- Bake for about 10-12 minutes or until edges are set but centers are slightly soft.
- Let them cool on the baking sheet for 5 minutes before transferring to a wire rack.
Notes
For softer butter, cut it into small cubes and let it sit for about 15 minutes. You can also add a pinch of cinnamon or nutmeg for extra flavor. Store cookies in an airtight container for up to a week, or freeze the dough for up to three months.
