Ingredients
  

For the Ketchup
  • 6 ounces tomato paste
  • 1/2 cup apple cider vinegar Can substitute with white or red wine vinegar
  • 1/4 cup brown sugar Use less for a tangier taste.
  • 1 teaspoon onion powder
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon ground allspice
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • a pinch cayenne pepper Optional for a little kick

Method
 

Preparation
  1. In a medium-sized bowl, combine tomato paste, apple cider vinegar, brown sugar, onion powder, garlic powder, allspice, salt, and cayenne pepper if using.
  2. Using a whisk or fork, mix everything until creamy smooth to blend the flavors.
  3. Taste the mixture and adjust the flavor with more sugar or spice as necessary.
  4. Cover the bowl and chill in the refrigerator for at least an hour to meld the flavors.
  5. Transfer the ketchup to an airtight container or squeeze bottle for easy dispensing.

Notes

Can substitute tomato paste with crushed tomatoes, adjusting sugar or vinegar as necessary. Experiment with spices like smoked paprika for added flavor. Store in the fridge for up to two weeks.
