Ingredients

Main Ingredients

  • 1/2 cup honey The star of the show!
  • 1/4 cup soy sauce Use tamari for a gluten-free option.
  • 4 cloves garlic, minced Adds a great flavor punch.
  • 1 tablespoon ginger, grated Fresh is best, but powdered works too.
  • 2 cups cooked rice Can be white, brown, or cauliflower rice.
  • 1 cup broccoli florets For a bit of greens.
  • 1 tablespoon sesame oil Adds an authentic touch.
  • sesame seeds For garnish.
  • sliced green onions For garnish.

Method

Preparation
  1. In a medium bowl, whisk together the honey, soy sauce, minced garlic, and grated ginger to prepare the sauce.
Cooking
  1. In a large skillet over medium heat, warm up the sesame oil.
  2. Add the shrimp and sauté for about 3-4 minutes, flipping halfway through until pink and opaque.
  3. Pour the honey garlic sauce over the shrimp and let it cook for another 2-3 minutes, stirring occasionally.
  4. While the shrimp is cooking, bring a small pot of water to a boil and add the broccoli florets. Blanch for about 2-3 minutes until just tender, then drain.
Assembly
  1. In each bowl, start with a scoop of rice, followed by the honey garlic shrimp and blanched broccoli.
  2. Garnish with sesame seeds and sliced green onions.
Serving
  1. Enjoy your Honey Garlic Shrimp Bowls with a fork or chopsticks!

Notes

Frozen shrimp is fine, just make sure to thaw before cooking. For a vegetarian version, substitute shrimp with tofu or chickpeas. For thicker sauce, allow it to reduce longer while stirring frequently.
