  • 1 package (16 oz) gnocchi
  • 1 jar (24 oz) marinara sauce Homemade or store-bought
  • 1 cup shredded mozzarella cheese
  • 1 cup ricotta cheese
  • 1/2 cup grated Parmesan cheese
  • 2 cups fresh spinach Or kale, if preferred
Additional Ingredients
  • 1 tablespoon olive oil
  • Salt and pepper To taste
  • Fresh basil For garnish, optional

Method

Preparation
  1. Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C).
  2. In a large skillet, heat olive oil over medium heat. Add the Italian sausage, breaking it up into smaller pieces as it cooks until nicely browned and cooked through. Season with salt and pepper.
  3. Add the gnocchi and marinara sauce, stirring until well combined. Bring to a gentle simmer and let bubble for about 5 minutes.
Layering and Baking
  1. In a large baking dish, layer half of the gnocchi and sausage mixture, dollop on half of the ricotta, and sprinkle spinach over it.
  2. Repeat layering with the remaining ingredients.
  3. Top with shredded mozzarella and sprinkle grated Parmesan over everything.
  4. Cover the dish with foil and bake for about 30 minutes. Remove the foil and bake for an additional 10 minutes until bubbly and golden brown.
  5. Let it cool for a minute, garnish with fresh basil, and serve.
