Cooking Steps
- Start by heating your olive oil in a skillet over medium heat. Once hot, toss in your sliced onions. Stir occasionally, letting them soften and turn golden brown (about 10-15 minutes).
- As they cook, sprinkle a pinch of salt, add the brown sugar, and pour in the balsamic vinegar. Stir until the onions are beautifully caramelized.
- While your onions are working their magic, prepare the turkey. In a bowl, combine the ground turkey, Worcestershire sauce, garlic powder, onion powder, salt, and pepper. Mix until just combined; shape the mixture into 4 equal-sized patties.
- Heat another tablespoon of olive oil in a clean skillet over medium-high heat. Once shimmering, add your turkey patties. Cook for about 5 minutes on each side until they reach 165°F.
- In the last minute of cooking, add a slice of provolone cheese on top of each patty and cover briefly to melt.
- Toast your buns if you fancy a little crunch. Place your turkey burger on the bottom half of the bun, pile on those balsamic onions, add your favorite toppings, and crown it with the top bun. Enjoy!
Notes
Don't skimp on flavor: feel free to add other spices or herbs to the turkey mix. Make ahead: Cook the turkey patties and onions in advance; just heat up when ready to assemble.
