Preparation
- Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
- In a large mixing bowl, combine the softened butter, brown sugar, and granulated sugar. Blend until creamy.
- Beat in the eggs, one at a time, followed by the vanilla extract.
- Gradually mix in the flour, baking soda, and salt.
- Fold in the chocolate chips (and nuts if using).
- Grease a 9×13 inch baking pan or line it with parchment paper. Pour the batter into the pan and spread evenly.
- Bake for 25-30 minutes, or until the edges are golden and the center is set.
- Let cool for about 15 minutes before cutting into squares.
Notes
Store leftovers in an airtight container at room temperature for 2-3 days or in the fridge for up to a week. You can freeze the bars for up to three months.
