  • 1 cup unsalted butter, softened
  • 1 cup brown sugar, packed
  • 1/2 cup granulated sugar
  • 2 large eggs
  • 2 teaspoons vanilla extract
  • 3 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 2 cups chocolate chips Optional: mix in some nuts for added flavor

Method
 

Preparation
  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
  2. In a large mixing bowl, combine the softened butter, brown sugar, and granulated sugar. Blend until creamy.
  3. Beat in the eggs, one at a time, followed by the vanilla extract.
  4. Gradually mix in the flour, baking soda, and salt.
  5. Fold in the chocolate chips (and nuts if using).
  6. Grease a 9×13 inch baking pan or line it with parchment paper. Pour the batter into the pan and spread evenly.
  7. Bake for 25-30 minutes, or until the edges are golden and the center is set.
  8. Let cool for about 15 minutes before cutting into squares.

Notes

Store leftovers in an airtight container at room temperature for 2-3 days or in the fridge for up to a week. You can freeze the bars for up to three months.
