Ingredients

Main Ingredients
  • 1 pound fresh salmon (sushi-grade if possible)
  • 2 large ripe avocados
  • 1 cup fresh basil leaves
  • Juice of 1 lemon
  • 1 tablespoon olive oil
  • to taste salt and pepper
  • 4 large lettuce leaves (butter or romaine work best for wraps)
  • to taste soy sauce or your favorite dipping sauce Optional

Method

Preparation
  1. If your salmon isn’t prepped yet, slice it into thin strips.
  2. Cut the avocados in half, scoop out the flesh, and mash it in a bowl with lemon juice and a pinch of salt; add olive oil to keep it creamy.
Assembly
  1. Place a lettuce leaf flat on your workspace. Spread a generous spoonful of avocado mash onto the leaf.
  2. Layer a few basil leaves and a strip of salmon on top.
  3. Roll from one end of the lettuce leaf, tucking in the filling as you go, to make sure nothing escapes.
Serving
  1. Once rolled, slice them in half or leave them whole, then serve on a platter with soy sauce for dipping.

Notes

Fresh is Best: Always opt for the freshest ingredients when using fish. Experiment with filling variations like cucumbers, carrots, or cream cheese. Save leftover avocado mash for toast or as a side.
