Ingredients

Main ingredients
  • 4 pieces ripe pears (Bartlett or Anjou)
  • 1/4 cup maple syrup because who doesn’t love a little maple magic?
  • 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon your kitchen’s best friend
  • 1/2 teaspoon ground nutmeg
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1/2 cup chopped walnuts optional, but they add crunch and depth
  • Vanilla ice cream or Greek yogurt (for serving) optional but highly recommended!

Method

Preparation
  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
  2. Carefully cut the pears in half and remove the core. You can choose to peel them or leave the skin on.
  3. Arrange the pear halves cut side up in a baking dish.
  4. In a small bowl, mix together the maple syrup, cinnamon, nutmeg, salt, and vanilla extract.
Baking
  1. Drizzle the maple mixture over the pears, ensuring they are all coated.
  2. Optionally, sprinkle some chopped walnuts on top for a crunchy texture.
  3. Bake the pears for 25-30 minutes until tender but not mushy.
Serving
  1. Serve warm, topped with a scoop of vanilla ice cream or a dollop of Greek yogurt.

Notes

Keep an eye on your pears while they bake—timing is everything. Substitute walnuts with oats for a different kind of crunch if needed. Feel free to mix up the spices.
