Preparation
- Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C) and line your baking sheets with parchment paper.
- In a large mixing bowl, cream together the softened butter, granulated sugar, and brown sugar until smooth.
- Add in the egg and vanilla extract. Mix until everything is combined, scraping the sides of the bowl.
- In another bowl, whisk together the flour, baking soda, and salt. Gradually add this dry mixture to the wet ingredients and stir until fully combined.
- Fold in the chocolate chips and chopped maraschino cherries.
- Drop spoonfuls of dough onto the prepared baking sheets, leaving space between each one.
Baking
- Bake for about 10-12 minutes, or until the cookies are lightly golden around the edges.
- Let them cool on the sheet for a few minutes before transferring to wire racks.
