Ingredients

For the Meatballs
  • 1 pound ground beef or turkey Use turkey for a healthier option
  • 1/2 cup breadcrumbs
  • 1/4 cup grated Parmesan cheese
  • 1/4 cup chopped parsley For added flavor and flair
  • 1 clove garlic, minced
  • 1 large egg
  • to taste salt and pepper
For Wrapping
  • 1 can refrigerated crescent roll dough
  • 1 large egg For egg wash
For Serving
  • to taste Marinara sauce For dipping

Method

Preparation
  1. Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C).
  2. In a large bowl, combine ground beef, breadcrumbs, Parmesan cheese, parsley, garlic, egg, salt, and pepper. Mix until well combined.
  3. Roll the mixture into bite-sized meatballs, about 1 inch in diameter.
  4. Open the crescent roll dough and cut it into thin strips. Wrap the strips around each meatball, leaving a space for a 'face'.
  5. Place the wrapped meatballs on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper. Brush with the beaten egg.
  6. Bake for about 15-20 minutes, until the dough is golden and the meatballs are cooked through.
  7. Once out of the oven, let the meatballs cool slightly. Dot them with marinara sauce or use candy eyes for decoration.

Notes

You can prepare the meatballs ahead of time and refrigerate or freeze them. Mummies can look disheveled; don’t stress about the wraps not being perfect.
