Method
Making the Crust
- In a medium bowl, mix the graham cracker crumbs and melted butter until well combined. Press this mixture into the bottom of a 9-inch springform pan.
- Pop it in the fridge while you prepare the filling.
Preparing the Filling
- In a large mixing bowl, beat the softened cream cheese with the powdered sugar, orange juice, orange zest, and vanilla extract until smooth.
- Taste and adjust as needed for quality control!
Adding the Whipping Cream
- In a separate bowl, whip the heavy cream until stiff peaks form.
- Gently fold this whipped cream into the cream cheese mixture to maintain its fluffiness.
Combining and Chilling
- Carefully pour the cream cheese mixture over the prepared crust and smooth the top.
- Cover the pan with plastic wrap and let it chill in the refrigerator for at least 4 hours, or preferably overnight.
Serving
- Once set, remove the cheesecake from the springform pan.
- Garnish with fresh orange slices or a dollop of whipped cream, cut into slices, and serve.
Notes
Quality Ingredients Matter: Use fresh orange juice and real vanilla extract if possible for best results. Substitutions are permitted - crushed Oreos or gluten-free alternatives can be used for the crust. A store-bought cheesecake crust can save time.
