Ingredients

Dry Ingredients
  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 tablespoon baking powder
  • ½ teaspoon salt
  • 1 tablespoon sugar
Wet Ingredients
  • 1 cup milk (or a dairy-free substitute) Any non-dairy milk such as almond or oat milk can be used.
  • 2 tablespoons melted butter Plus extra for greasing the loaf pan.

Method

Preparation
  1. Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C).
  2. In a large mixing bowl, combine the all-purpose flour, baking powder, salt, and sugar. Whisk together until well blended.
  3. In a separate bowl, mix the milk and melted butter. Gently fold this wet mixture into the dry ingredients, being careful not to overmix; some lumps are okay.
  4. Grease a loaf pan with butter, then pour your dough into the pan. Smooth the top carefully.
Baking
  1. Bake in the preheated oven for about 30-35 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted in the center comes out clean.
  2. Let the bread cool in the pan for about 10 minutes before transferring it to a wire rack to cool completely.

Notes

Feel free to add herbs, cheese, or chopped olives to the dough for extra flavor. This bread is perfect for sandwiches, toast, or simply slathered with butter. For storage, keep it in an airtight container for up to three days or slice and freeze for longer storage.
