Ingredients

Dry Ingredients
  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 teaspoon baking powder
  • 1 teaspoon salt
Wet Ingredients
  • 1 tablespoon olive oil
  • 3/4 cup warm water Add a little more if needed

Method

Preparation
  1. In a large bowl, whisk together the flour, baking powder, and salt.
  2. Make a well in the center, pour in the olive oil and gradually add the warm water. Stir it with a spoon until a shaggy dough begins to form.
  3. Flour a clean surface and turn out the dough. Knead it gently for about 3 to 4 minutes until it's smooth.
Shaping
  1. Once you have a smooth dough, divide it into 6 equal pieces. Roll each piece into a ball and then flatten it into a circle about 1/4 inch thick.
Cooking
  1. Heat a skillet over medium heat. Once hot, place one flatbread in the skillet and cook for 1-2 minutes on each side or until golden brown.
  2. Serve warm with toppings of your choice.

Notes

Letting the dough rest for a few minutes after kneading helps gluten develop, resulting in softer bread. Feel free to add your favorite herbs or spices for extra flavor. These flatbreads are great for wraps, dipping, and sandwiches.
