Ingredients

Main Ingredients
  • 1 lb thinly sliced ribeye steak The star of the show!
  • 1 large onion, sliced For that sweet, caramelized flavor.
  • 2 pieces green bell peppers, sliced Add a pop of color and flavor.
  • 4 pieces hoagie rolls The perfect vessel for all that goodness.
  • 8 oz provolone cheese Because what’s a cheesesteak without cheese?
  • to taste salt and pepper
  • 2 tbsp olive oil For sautéing.

Method

Preparation
  1. Heat the olive oil in a large skillet over medium heat. Toss in the sliced onions and bell peppers, and season them with a sprinkle of salt and pepper. Sauté until they’re tender and caramelized — about 5-7 minutes.
  2. Increase the heat and add the thinly sliced ribeye steak to the skillet. Cook until browned, which usually takes about 3-5 minutes. Make sure everything is combined nicely and add more seasoning if needed.
  3. Lay the slices of provolone cheese right over the steak and veggie mixture. Reduce the heat to low, cover the skillet, and let the cheese melt into a gooey masterpiece for about 2 minutes.
  4. While the cheese is melting, slice the hoagie rolls down the middle without cutting all the way through. Place the melty steak and veggie mix generously into the rolls.
  5. Enjoy your sandwiches immediately, maybe with a side of chips or a simple salad.

Notes

Slice the ribeye for perfectly thin slices by freezing it for about 30 minutes beforehand. Feel free to experiment with different cheeses like Cheez Whiz or sharp cheddar.
