Ingredients
  

For the Popovers
  • 1 cup milk Use whole milk for best results.
  • 4 large eggs Bring to room temperature for better rise.
  • 1 cup all-purpose flour Can be substituted with gluten-free flour.
  • 1 teaspoon salt Adjust according to taste.
  • 1 cup grated Parmesan cheese Freshly grated is recommended.
  • 2 tablespoons fresh sage, finely chopped Can substitute with dried sage if necessary.
  • 1 tablespoon unsalted butter, melted For combining with wet ingredients.
  • Cooking spray To grease the muffin tin.
For the Garlic Butter
  • ¼ cup unsalted butter, softened For a rich garlic spread.
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced Fresh garlic for stronger flavor.
  • 1 tablespoon fresh parsley, chopped Optional, but adds a nice touch.

Method
 

Preparation
  1. Preheat your oven to 400°F (200°C).
  2. In a mixing bowl, whisk together the milk, eggs, and melted butter until smooth.
  3. In another bowl, whisk together the flour, salt, and grated Parmesan cheese. Slowly incorporate this into the wet ingredients until just combined.
  4. Gently fold in the chopped sage.
  5. Generously spray a muffin tin with cooking spray.
  6. Pour the batter into each muffin cup, filling them about halfway.
Baking
  1. Bake for 20-25 minutes until puffed and golden brown. Avoid opening the oven door.
Making Garlic Butter
  1. While the popovers bake, stir together softened butter, minced garlic, and parsley.
  2. Once the popovers are out of the oven, drizzle with the garlic butter.
Serving
  1. Serve immediately while warm, allowing the garlic butter to melt into each popover.

Notes

For perfect popovers, ensure eggs are at room temperature. Avoid opening the oven during baking. Variations may include different herbs or diced sun-dried tomatoes for extra flavor.
