Method
 

Preparation
  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
  2. In a large mixing bowl, cream together the softened butter, granulated sugar, and brown sugar until the mixture is light and fluffy.
  3. Add the vanilla extract and eggs, one at a time, mixing well after each addition.
  4. In a separate bowl, whisk together the all-purpose flour and baking soda.
  5. Gradually mix the dry ingredients into the wet ingredients until well combined.
  6. Fold in chocolate chunks (if specified) or any additional mix-ins such as crushed peppermint candies.
  7. Drop spoonfuls of cookie dough onto a baking sheet lined with parchment paper.
  8. Bake for 10-12 minutes or until the edges are lightly golden.
  9. Allow cookies to cool on the baking sheet for a few minutes before transferring to a wire rack to cool completely.

Notes

For extra festive flair, garnish cookies with crushed peppermint on top before baking.
