Ingredients

Dough Ingredients
  • 2 1/4 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 packet (2 1/4 teaspoons) instant yeast
  • 1 teaspoon sugar
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 3/4 cup warm water (about 110°F) Make sure water is warm, not hot, to avoid killing the yeast.
  • 1 tablespoon olive oil
  • extra amount flour for dusting Use as needed for kneading and rolling out the dough.

Method

Preparation
  1. In a large bowl, combine the flour, yeast, sugar, and salt. Stir until evenly mixed.
  2. Make a well in the center of the dry mix and pour in the warm water and olive oil. Mix with a wooden spoon until the dough comes together.
  3. Transfer the dough onto a floured surface and knead for about 5-7 minutes until smooth and elastic.
  4. Form the dough into a ball and place it in a lightly oiled bowl. Cover with a kitchen towel and let it rise in a warm area for about 1 hour or until doubled in size.
Baking
  1. Once the dough has risen, preheat the oven to 475°F (245°C). Punch down the dough and roll it out on a floured surface to your desired thickness.

Notes

Customize your dough by adding herbs or spices to the flour mix. Store leftover dough wrapped in plastic for up to three days in the fridge or freeze for up to three months.
