Preparation
  1. In a mixing bowl, whisk together the instant pudding mix and cold milk for about 2 minutes until thick and creamy.
  2. Gently fold in the whipped topping to the pudding mixture until smooth and fluffy.
  3. If desired, add food coloring and swirl it in to create patterns, then add sprinkles on top.
  4. Chill in the fridge for about 30 minutes to allow flavors to develop.
  5. Spread the frosting generously over cakes, brownies, or cupcakes, or serve as a dip for fruit.

Notes

Don't skimp on mixing for a fluffier frosting. You can use different pudding flavors for variety. This frosting can be made a day ahead and stored in the fridge.
