  • 2 cups macaroni pasta Use any type of macaroni pasta.
  • 4 cups shredded cheese (a mix of cheddar and mozzarella) A mix of cheeses adds extra flavor.
Sauce Base
  • 4 cups milk Whole milk is preferred for creaminess.
  • 4 tablespoons butter Unsalted butter works best.
  • 4 tablespoons all-purpose flour This will help thicken the cheese sauce.
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1 teaspoon onion powder
  • to taste Salt and pepper
Meat and Toppings
  • 2 cups cooked rib meat, shredded Use leftover ribs or store-bought.
  • as needed Crispy bacon bits or breadcrumbs Optional toppings for extra crunch.

Method

Cooking the Pasta
  1. In a large pot of boiling salted water, cook the macaroni until al dente, following package instructions. Drain and set it aside.
Making the Cheese Sauce
  1. In the same pot, melt the butter over medium heat. Add the flour, whisking continuously for about 1-2 minutes until it forms a paste.
  2. Gradually whisk in the milk, stirring to combine and eliminate lumps. Add the garlic powder, onion powder, and a pinch of salt and pepper. Keep stirring until the sauce thickens, about 5-7 minutes.
  3. Once thickened, lower the heat and stir in the shredded cheese until it is completely melted and gooey.
Combining Everything
  1. Fold in the cooked macaroni and the shredded rib meat until everything is nicely coated in the luxurious cheese sauce.
  2. For an extra touch, top with crispy bacon or breadcrumbs before serving. Enjoy it warm.

Notes

This dish can be made ahead and stored in the fridge. Bake it in the oven until heated through before serving. Mixing different cheeses can elevate the flavor.
