  • 2 tablespoons butter
  • 1 tablespoon brown sugar (optional) adds sweetness

  • 2 pounds potatoes, peeled and cubed
  • 1/2 cup milk
  • 1/4 cup butter

Method
 

Preparation of Potatoes
  1. Boil the cubed potatoes in salted water until fork-tender (about 15-20 minutes). Drain and return to the pot.
Making Mashed Potatoes
  1. Mash the potatoes to your desired consistency. Add milk, butter, salt, and pepper; taste as you go.
Caramelizing Onions
  1. Melt butter in a skillet over medium heat. Add sliced onions and cook until caramelized (about 15-20 minutes).
  2. Sprinkle with brown sugar and a pinch of salt halfway through.
Cooking the Steaks
  1. Season ribeye steaks with salt and pepper. Heat olive oil in another skillet over high heat.
  2. Cook steaks for about 4-5 minutes per side for medium-rare. Let rest before serving.
