Ingredients
  

Dry Ingredients
  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 tablespoon baking powder
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1 tablespoon chopped fresh rosemary (or 1 teaspoon dried) Substitute dried if fresh is unavailable
Wet Ingredients
  • 2 tablespoons olive oil
  • 1 cup water
  • 3 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 tablespoon melted butter (for brushing) Brush after baking for added flavor

Method
 

Preparation
  1. Preheat your oven to 400°F (200°C) and lightly coat your cast iron skillet with oil.
Mixing
  1. In a large bowl, combine the flour, baking powder, salt, and chopped rosemary.
  2. In a separate small bowl, mix together the olive oil and minced garlic, then combine with the dry ingredients and add the water.
  3. Stir until it forms a shaggy dough.
Shaping
  1. Knead the dough on a floured surface for about a minute until smooth, then shape it into a round loaf.
Baking
  1. Transfer the dough to your skillet and bake for 25-30 minutes until golden brown and hollow sounding when tapped.
Finishing Touch
  1. Brush the warm bread with melted butter for extra flavor.

Notes

Add sea salt on top before baking for an extra fancy finish. Experiment with other herbs or cheese for variations.
