Preparation
- Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and line baking sheets with parchment paper.
- In a medium saucepan, melt the unsalted butter over low heat, then remove from heat and stir in granulated sugar.
- Add the eggs one at a time, mixing well after each addition, then stir in the vanilla extract.
- In a separate bowl, whisk together flour, cocoa powder, baking powder, and salt.
- Gradually add the dry mixture to the wet mixture and fold until just combined.
- Stir in chocolate chips.
- Using a cookie scoop or tablespoon, drop dollops of dough onto prepared baking sheets, leaving space between each.
- Sprinkle flaky sea salt on top of the dough.
Baking
- Bake for 10-12 minutes. Let cool on baking sheets for a few minutes before transferring to a wire rack.
Notes
Optional: Chill the dough for about an hour before baking for enhanced flavor and texture. Don't overmix the flour; it's okay to see some streaks.
