For the dough
  • 1 cup unsalted butter, softened Make sure butter is at room temperature.
  • 1 cup granulated sugar
  • 1 cup brown sugar, packed
  • 2 large eggs Bring to room temperature.
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract For better flavor.
  • 3 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1 cup semi-sweet chocolate chips
  • 1 cup chopped salted caramel candies Can substitute with store-bought caramel bits.
  • to taste sea salt For sprinkling on top.

Method
 

Preparation
  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
  2. In a large mixing bowl, combine softened butter, granulated sugar, and brown sugar. Beat until light and fluffy, about 3-5 minutes.
  3. Add the eggs one at a time, beating well after each addition. Stir in the vanilla extract.
  4. In a separate bowl, whisk together flour, baking soda, and salt. Gradually add to the wet ingredients, mixing until just combined.
  5. Fold in the chocolate chips and salted caramel pieces.
Baking
  1. Using a cookie scoop, drop tablespoons of dough onto ungreased baking sheets, leaving about 2 inches between each mound.
  2. Sprinkle a pinch of sea salt on top of each cookie.
  3. Bake for 10-12 minutes or until the edges are golden and the centers look slightly underbaked.
  4. Allow cookies to cool on the baking sheet for a few minutes before transferring them to a wire rack.

Notes

Chill the dough for 30 minutes before baking for better flavor and texture. These cookies are perfect for sharing or indulging during a movie night.
