Ingredients

For the Fritters
  • 2 medium Honeycrisp apples, peeled and diced
  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 tablespoon baking powder
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1 tablespoon cinnamon
  • 1/2 cup sugar
  • 2 large eggs
  • 1 cup milk
  • Vegetable oil (for frying) About 1 inch deep in the skillet
For the Salted Honey Drizzle
  • 1/2 cup honey
  • A pinch of sea salt

Method

Preparation
  1. Peel and dice the Honeycrisp apples into bite-sized pieces.
  2. In a large bowl, whisk together the flour, baking powder, salt, cinnamon, and sugar.
  3. In another bowl, beat the eggs and then add the milk. Slowly pour this into the dry mixture while stirring gently.
  4. Fold in the diced apples until evenly distributed.
  5. In a large skillet, pour enough vegetable oil to cover the bottom (about 1 inch deep) and heat over medium heat.
Cooking
  1. Once the oil is ready, drop spoonfuls of the batter into the hot oil and fry for about 2-3 minutes on each side, until golden brown.
  2. Use a slotted spoon to transfer the fritters onto paper towels to drain excess oil.
  3. In a small saucepan, heat the honey until warm and pourable, then sprinkle in a pinch of sea salt and stir.
Serving
  1. Drizzle the warm salted honey over the fritters and serve immediately.

Notes

For best results, ensure the oil is at the perfect temperature and do not overcrowd the pan while frying.
