Ingredients

Main Ingredients
  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 2 cups granulated sugar
  • 1 cup unsalted butter, softened
  • 1 cup milk (whole or almond for a twist!)
  • 4 large eggs
  • 2 teaspoons baking powder
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1 cup optional add-ins (chocolate chips, diced fruit, nuts) Customize as desired

Method

Preparation
  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
  2. Grease your baking sheet (a 13×18 inch one works great) with butter or cooking spray.
  3. In a large mixing bowl, cream together the butter and sugar until light and fluffy.
  4. Incorporate the eggs one at a time, mixing well between each addition.
  5. In another bowl, whisk together the flour, baking powder, and salt. Gradually add this dry mix to your butter mixture, alternating with the milk. Mix until just combined.
  6. Stir in the vanilla and any optional add-ins.
  7. Pour the batter into the baking sheet and spread it evenly.
Baking
  1. Bake for about 30-35 minutes or until a toothpick comes out clean.
  2. Cool in the pan for 10 minutes before transferring it to a wire rack to cool completely.
  3. Frost with your preferred frosting or enjoy it plain.

Notes

Add a splash of lemon or orange zest for a citrusy twist. Decorate with melted chocolate or powdered sugar for a stunning touch. You can substitute regular milk with buttermilk for a richer flavor.
