These Shrimp Crab Melts are an easy, delicious comfort snack that combine shrimp, crab, and cheese on buttery bread, baked to perfection.

Ingredients
  

Seafood Mixture
  • 8 oz cooked shrimp, chopped Use fresh or leftover shrimp.
  • 8 oz lump crab meat Can be substituted with more shrimp or other seafood.
  • 1/2 cup mayonnaise Greek yogurt can be used as a substitute.
  • 1/4 cup cream cheese, softened
  • 1/4 cup green onions, chopped
  • 1 tsp Worcestershire sauce
  • 1/2 cup shredded cheese Cheddar or Monterey Jack works well.
For Assembly
  • 4 slices favorite bread Sourdough recommended.
  • 1/4 cup butter, softened for spreading Use on bread for a golden crust.
  • Salt and pepper to taste

Method
 

Preparation
  1. In a large bowl, combine chopped shrimp, crab meat, mayonnaise, cream cheese, green onions, Worcestershire sauce, and half of the shredded cheese. Season with salt and pepper.
Cooking
  1. Preheat the oven to 375°F (190°C).
  2. Spread softened butter on one side of each bread slice.
  3. Place bread slices butter-side down on a baking sheet and pile the shrimp and crab mixture on the unbuttered sides.
  4. Sprinkle remaining shredded cheese on top.
  5. Bake for 15-20 minutes, or until cheese is melted and bubbly and bread edges are golden brown.
  6. Let cool for a couple of minutes, slice into quarters, and serve warm.

Notes

Storage: If leftovers exist, store in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to two days and reheat in the oven to maintain crispiness.
