Preparation
- Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
- In a mixing bowl, combine the yellow cake mix, melted butter, and optional egg. Mix until just combined.
- Spread the strawberry pie filling evenly across the bottom of a 9x13-inch baking dish.
- In another bowl, whip together the softened cream cheese, powdered sugar, and vanilla extract until smooth and creamy.
- Dollop the cheesecake mixture over the strawberry filling, spreading gently.
- Pour the cake batter over the cream cheese layer and sprinkle some extra cake mix on top if desired.
Baking
- Slide the dish into the oven and bake for about 30-40 minutes or until golden brown and a toothpick comes out clean.
- Once cooled, slice and serve. Garnish with fresh strawberries or whipped cream, if desired.
Notes
Lumps in the cake batter can add a rustic texture. Feel free to swap strawberry pie filling with blueberries or cherries.
