Preparation
- Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C).
- In a large bowl, combine the chocolate cake mix, water, vegetable oil, and eggs. Mix until well blended.
- Grease a 9x13-inch baking pan.
- Pour half of the chocolate cake batter into the pan. Then, layer the sliced strawberries on top.
- In another bowl, beat the softened cream cheese, sugar, and vanilla extract until smooth. Drop spoonfuls of this mixture over the strawberries, then cover with the remaining chocolate batter.
- Sprinkle chocolate chips on top.
- Bake for 45-50 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted in the center comes out clean.
- Let the cake cool for at least 15 minutes before serving.
Notes
If using frozen strawberries, ensure they are thawed and drained properly. A bit of texture in the cream cheese filling can add character to the cake. Store leftovers in an airtight container in the fridge for up to three days.
