Ingredients
  

For the Biscuit Base
  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 tablespoon baking powder
  • ½ teaspoon salt
  • 2 tablespoons sugar for sweetness
  • ½ cup cold unsalted butter, cubed
  • ¾ cup milk or buttermilk for tanginess
For the Lovely Strawberries
  • 4 cups fresh strawberries, hulled and sliced
  • ¼ cup sugar to sweeten the strawberries
For the Whipped Cream
  • 1 cup heavy whipping cream
  • 2 tablespoons sugar for the whipped cream
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract for flavor

Method
 

Preparation
  1. Preheat your oven to 425°F (220°C).
  2. In a large bowl, whisk together the flour, baking powder, salt, and sugar.
  3. Add the cold butter cubes to the flour mix and cut in until it resembles coarse crumbs.
  4. Pour in the milk and stir gently until just combined.
  5. Turn the dough onto a floured surface, pat it into a 1-inch thick rectangle, and cut out rounds.
  6. Place biscuits on a baking sheet and bake for about 12-15 minutes, or until golden brown.
Prepare the Strawberries
  1. While the biscuits bake, sprinkle the sliced strawberries with sugar and let them sit.
Make the Whipped Cream
  1. In a medium bowl, beat the cream with sugar and vanilla extract until soft peaks form.
Assembly
  1. Slice the baked biscuits in half and layer with strawberries and dollops of whipped cream.
  2. Repeat for the top layer.

Notes

You can substitute buttermilk with regular milk mixed with a tablespoon of vinegar or lemon juice. For a simpler approach, store-bought biscuits can be used.
