For the bread boat
  • 1 large Italian bread loaf Choose a crusty loaf for best results.
For the filling
  • 1 cup shredded mozzarella cheese Can substitute with provolone or pepper jack.
  • 1 cup diced pepperoni Or a mix of your favorite meats.
  • 1 cup finely chopped bell peppers Any color bell peppers can be used.
  • ½ cup finely chopped onion Yellow or white onions work well.
  • 1 cup marinara sauce Store-bought or homemade.
  • 2 tablespoons olive oil For added flavor.
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder For flavor enhancement.
  • 1 sprinkle Italian seasoning To taste.
  • to taste Salt and pepper Season as desired.

Method
 

Preparation
  1. Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C). Carefully slice the top part off the Italian bread loaf to create a lid and hollow out the inside.
  2. In a large bowl, combine mozzarella cheese, pepperoni, bell peppers, onion, marinara sauce, olive oil, garlic powder, Italian seasoning, salt, and pepper. Mix until well incorporated.
Assembly
  1. Gently spoon the filling into the hollowed-out bread loaf, packing it generously.
  2. Replace the lid on the stuffed loaf, then place the bread boat on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper.
Baking
  1. Bake for 25-30 minutes, or until the cheese is melted and bubbly. Let it cool slightly before slicing.
Serving
  1. Serve warm with extra marinara sauce on the side for dipping.

Notes

You can use leftover roasted vegetables or cooked chicken for added flavor. Feel free to experiment with different cheeses for a unique twist. Store leftovers in an airtight container in the fridge for 2-3 days.
