  • 1/2 cup milk can be substituted with almond or soy milk
  • 1/4 cup melted butter
  • 1 large egg

Method

Preparation
  1. In a large bowl, whisk together the flour, sugar, baking powder, salt, and cinnamon.
  2. In a separate bowl, combine the milk, melted butter, and egg. Whisk until smooth.
  3. Pour the wet mixture into the dry ingredients, stirring until just combined.
  4. Knead the dough gently on a floured surface for about 1 minute until smooth.
  5. Roll the dough out to about 1/2 inch thick, then cut out doughnuts using a cookie cutter.
Cooking
  1. Heat about 2 inches of oil in a large pot to 375°F (190°C).
  2. Carefully place a few doughnuts at a time into the hot oil, frying until golden brown (about 1-2 minutes).

  4. If desired, toss warm doughnuts in powdered sugar or glaze immediately.

Notes

Play your favorite tunes while cooking for added fun. Avoid overcrowding the frying pot for even cooking. Keep a close watch on oil temperature to prevent burning.
