Preparation
- Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
- In a skillet over medium heat, cook the sausage until it’s browned and crumbled. Drain the excess fat.
- In a large bowl, whisk together the eggs, milk, vanilla extract, cinnamon, and salt. Add in the maple syrup and stir well.
- In a large baking dish, layer the cubed bread, sprinkle the cooked sausage on top, then pour the egg mixture over everything, pressing down to soak the bread.
- If you have time, let it sit for about 15 minutes to help flavors mingle.
Baking
- Bake in the preheated oven for 45-50 minutes, or until the top is golden brown and the center is set.
- Let cool slightly before slicing into portions.
Notes
This casserole is perfect for prepping ahead of time. You can prepare everything the night before and bake it in the morning. Feel free to add veggies like bell peppers or spinach for extra nutrition.
