- Start by bringing a pot of water to a boil. Peel and cube the sweet potatoes, and add them to the pot.
- Boil until they are tender, about 15 minutes. Drain and mash them up in a bowl or use a food processor for a silky smooth texture.
Mixing
- In a large mixing bowl, combine the mashed sweet potatoes, sugar, milk, melted butter, eggs, vanilla extract, cinnamon, nutmeg, and salt.
- Use a hand mixer or a whisk for about 2 minutes until everything is well blended and creamy.
Baking
- Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Pour the sweet potato mixture into your pie crust, smoothing out the top.
- Bake for about 55 to 60 minutes, or until the filling is firm and a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean.
Cooling and Serving
- Let the pie cool for at least 30 minutes before cutting.
- Pair it with whipped cream or a scoop of vanilla ice cream for extra indulgence.
Notes
For a twist, try adding a tablespoon of bourbon to the filling! You can also make mini sweet potato pies in muffin tins.
