Ingredients

For the T-Bone Steak
  • 2 pieces T-bone steaks (1 inch thick)
  • Salt and pepper, to taste
  • 2 tablespoons olive oil or melted butter
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 tablespoon fresh rosemary or thyme (optional)
For the Fried Shrimp
  • 1 pound large shrimp, peeled and deveined
  • 1 cup buttermilk
  • 1 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1 teaspoon paprika
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • Oil for frying (vegetable or canola works best)

Method

Preparation
  1. Season both sides of the T-bone steaks generously with salt and pepper. Rub with olive oil and minced garlic. Optionally, add fresh herbs like rosemary or thyme.
  2. Soak the peeled shrimp in buttermilk for 10-15 minutes.
Cooking the Steak
  1. Heat a grill or heavy skillet over medium-high heat and add the steaks. Grill for about 4-5 minutes on each side for medium-rare.
Preparing the Shrimp
  1. In a bowl, mix flour, paprika, garlic powder, and salt. Dredge the shrimp in the flour mixture after soaking in buttermilk.
  2. Heat oil in a skillet over medium heat. Test by dropping a small amount of flour; it should sizzle.
Frying the Shrimp
  1. Carefully add the shrimp to the hot oil and fry for about 2-3 minutes per side until golden brown and crispy. Drain on paper towels.
Serving
  1. Slice the T-bone steak against the grain and serve it alongside the fried shrimp.

Notes

Ensure oil is hot enough to avoid soggy shrimp. Let the steak rest for a few minutes after cooking for juiciness. Customize shrimp seasoning to your liking.
