Preparation
  1. In a medium mixing bowl, combine the softened butter and powdered sugar. Use a spatula or an electric mixer to blend them until smooth and creamy.
  2. Pour in the sweetened condensed milk and continue to mix until well incorporated.
  3. Add the peppermint extract and a pinch of salt. Adjust the mint flavor to your preference.
  4. If desired, divide the dough into sections and add food coloring for a fun effect.
  5. Using your hands or a mini cookie scoop, roll the dough into small balls (about a teaspoon-sized) and flatten slightly with the back of a fork if desired.
  6. Place the rolled mints on a parchment-lined baking sheet and refrigerate for about 30 minutes until firm.
  7. Serve in a cute dish or package them for a gift once firm.

Notes

If the dough is too sticky, add more powdered sugar until the desired consistency is reached. Store mints in an airtight container for up to two weeks.
