Preparation
- Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease an 8x8 inch baking dish.
- In a mixing bowl, combine the flour, softened butter, granulated sugar, vanilla, and salt. Mix until crumbly.
- Press this mixture evenly into the bottom of the greased baking dish.
Filling
- In another bowl, toss together the diced apples, brown sugar, cinnamon, and lemon juice.
- Evenly spread the apple mixture over the crust.
Topping
- In a separate bowl, mix together the chopped walnuts, oats, brown sugar, and flour.
- Pour the melted butter over the mixture and stir until it resembles clumpy perfection.
- Spread the topping over the apples.
Baking
- Bake in the preheated oven for about 35-40 minutes, or until the topping is golden brown and the apples are bubbly.
Serving
- Let cool for a few minutes, then cut into squares and serve warm.
